Happy Leap Day from your Pembrokeshire Wedding and Lifestyle Photographer

February 29th, 2012

First of all I have to apologize for being MIA for so long. I realised that I have not updated my blog since the beginning of December but I have been so busy with sessions, newborn babies and new album designs. I have more or less caught up now and can't wait to post some of my very recent work – you just need a little more patience ;-)

But hey – It's the 29th of February today – Leap Day!

The one day of the year on which, traditionally, women can propose to men. It was considered that as the day also had no legal status, it was reasonable to assume that tradition had no status, so women took advantage of this and proposed to the man they wanted to marry.
A law once existed in Scotland forbidding a man to refuse a proposal made to him. Punishment for such an offence was a large fine.

This tradition goes back to an old Irish legend concerning St. Patrick and St. Bridget in the 5th Century. In the 5th century, a nun by the name of St. Bridget, petitioned St. Patrick on behalf of all women in that they have a more active role in choosing their husbands.
As a result of this request, women were allowed to propose to men once every four years.

So, were are the ladies who are planning on proposing to their boyfriends today? Tell me your plans! Have you proposed to your Love on previous leap years? Share your story!

As well as all those lovely soon to be married couples out there – Happy Birthday to all the babies born today. If your baby will be born here in Pembrokeshire today – leave a message for me in the comments and you might be in the winning for a newborn session with me.

And because I just can't make a post without a picture – here is one to get you in the mood for spring – enjoy your day!

Iari | 1 year old :: Pembrokshire Lifestyle Photography

December 1st, 2011

I can't believe it's been over 12 month now that I took Iari's newborn photographs! Where have the past 12 months gone? It was such a joy to see him grow during his first year and meet him at his first milestones during this time. Can you remember Iari when he was first born?

It's been a lovely journey and when we met for Iari's 1 year photo shoot the other week we had lots of fun in the lovely autumn woods with stunning colours everywhere. Happy 1st Birthday Iari!

Samantha & Mark :: Roch & Wolfscastle Country Hotel Wedding :: Pembrokeshire Wedding Photographer

October 19th, 2011

Sam & Mark got married in the beautiful little church in the village of Roch, just outside of Haverfordwest on 10th September. Oh my – the emotions is all I can say as I am welling up again. I am still not quiet sure just how much of Sam's nerves caused all the tears but every time Sam welled up I had to swallow hard to not to join in with her. It is hard to distance yourself especially since we got to know each other well in the past year while we chatted about her wedding and also when we had fun creating the e-session photographs. Anyway, the word tears and crying was banned and instead it was called "appelling" – it did not help very much though and so the day was always a little tearful – totally happy tears though!

But what am I talking about – Sam was the most beautiful bride and Mark a very handsome groom! Here is part I of the lovely day. Watch out for part II in the next couple of days. Enjoy!

Lesley & Jeremy :: Manorbier Castle Wedding :: Pembrokeshire Wedding Photographer

October 15th, 2011

Lesley & Jeremy's wedding was held in the magical Manorbier Castle in the little village of Manorbier, directly by the sea. Despite the never ending rain which we had on their special day, the atmosphere during the reception was filled with emotions – tears and laughter at the same time. You know what they say – if it rains on your wedding day – you will be blessed with good luck and never forget: a wet knot is much harder to untie!

Enjoy your sneak peek Lesley & Jeremy!

Baby Poppy {sweet beginnings | 7 days old} :: Ceredigion Newborn Photographer

October 6th, 2011

Congratulations again Kelly and Gareth – your little Poppy is such an adorable cutiepie!

I must admit the drive up to Tregaron was long but oh so scenic – I always seem to notice the drastic change in scenery when I go up north, so all in all I had a lovely day meeting you all.

Poppy was already more alert than some other babies with 7 days but she was good once we got her settled and into baby model mode :-)

Thank you for having me over and letting me photograph your little bundle of joy!
